Going in the Right Direction

This was a big win for us. Guys have been working hard and had a good week of practice leading up to the game, so this was a good reward and should get us going in the right direction. We got over that hump and now we have something to build on for the long season ahead.
We played very well on defense. I think we can be a little more consistent, but we made plays when we needed to and kept them out of the end zone almost the whole game. We got McNabb rattled but he’s tough to bring down. It wasn’t a big stat game but we played solid fundamental football.
I’ve seen a lot that I like from Sam Bradford. He’s going to be a good one. He doesn’t play the way you would expect a rookie to play. He can make all the throws and he has the team behind him. He’s definitely a leader, he’s comfortable on the field and doesn’t get rattled. He takes everything in and keeps his composure. That’s the key to being a good quarterback. He does what it takes.
This week we have Seattle coming to our place. They’re coming off a big victory and so are we, so we can’t ride high on it all week. We have to keep pushing hard and working in practice and get another victory. You can’t get lax in this league. You always have to keep fighting, keep pushing it.
As a veteran you have to show some leadership, and that means getting to practice and working hard and making sure no one on the team takes Seattle for granted. We still have a lot to prove and there’s a long way to go in the season.
Monday I saw guys coming to the facility to start watching film and get a head start on Seattle. Guys were here today on our day off working out. That’s the sign that a team can be good, and not just for one week.
